TRENDING: IceBucket The Best Fail Video Compilation

Ice bucket goes trending, even celebrities are on it. Another feat has entered the internet. Popularly known as the Ice Bucket Challenge, it is an activity which involves dumping a bucket of ice water on one’s head. One can refuse; however, saying no would mean one would have to donate to the ALS Association in the United States. Despite the unclear reason on the choice of idea, it eventually went viral throughout the social media network during the Northern Hemisphere summer of 2014. (scroll down for video)

The ALS Association supports those who have ALS and conducts experiments on the sickness. Amyotophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) was first found by Jean-Martin Charcot, French neurologist in 1969. The progressive neurodegenerative disease affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord to the muscles in the body. This can eventually lead to paralysis or even, death. Lou Gehrig, one of the most beloved baseball players of all time had his career ended due to the disease. This incident brought international attention to it.

The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge was popularized in the United States on 30th June, 2014 on the program Morning Drive, which currently airs on weekdays on Golf Channel. Celebrity personalities performed a live, on-air ice bucket challenge which brought more audiences to do the same including the television anchor Matt Lauer on The Today Show on NBC. Former Boston College baseball player Pete Frates who has ALS posted the dare on Twitter which garnered even more celebrities and notable individuals. Besides ALS Association, there are also participants who are doing it for the Motor Neuron Disease Association and Macmillan Cancer Support.

RIP Failure

Even the President of the United States was summoned into the feat. He was challenged by Ethel Kennedy, Justin Bieber, LeBron James and “Weird” Al Yanjovic but he denied and opted to contribute the 100$ donation instead.
With the numerous uploads on pursuing the challenge, quite a number of fails have been watched and laughed at. There were people who dumped the ice water on themselves and then ending up falling down or some slipped on the floor. Others didn’t even get to execute the dare. Some might be at their homes or in the clinic right now because the containers of the ice water ended up falling on their head.

Ice water on your head down to your body, or a donation to help the Association: Your choice.
